Indian Head pennies

Spring is in the air, finally. I am just glad it isn't still snowing. Two weeks ago we had snow, and now, it is warm enough for me to go outside wearing a tank top and capri pants. Good times.
Since we last spoke though, I have been attempting to keep myself rather busy. I have done the unthinkable. Yes, that is right, I have decided to play gardener. Sounds like something most people would enjoy, not too outlandish....until you realize I HATE the outdoors. I mean, loathe them. If I can possibly avoid going outside, I do. And yet here I am, outside, wondering why we don't have a proper rake so I can clean the yard up.

Ludicrous? Indeed.

While playing outside though, I stopped and decided to hunt in the driveway for glass shards. About 100 years ago, Chunky-Duffee road used to run right through where our current driveway is. (it is now about 500 feet east, visible from the house, but not in the way) As I meandering, what do I spy? A green penny! At first, I am not going to pick the silly thing up. I mean, it's a penny, we have several, why need another? But I do. And discover this is no ordinary penny, but an Indian head penny, circa 1884! Grand luck indeed, considering I have never seen an Indian head outside of a museum, let alone held one! I showed my daddy, and he got extremely excited, going so far as to encourage me to start digging up the yard hunting for more. Penny fever has hit Duffee.

Did some research though on said penny, and it is only worth about $2.35. Possibly more, but why would I sell it? I can save it for my kids and grandkids on day. Were it worth more, I would most certainly sell it. I need to take a summer class. As it stands, it shall remain safely hidden in my abyss I call a room.
